The University enrolls over 3,000 students in an array of undergraduate and graduate programs. Committed to enriching human lives through ethical and religious values and a tradition of service and motivated by a pioneering, progressive spirit, Marywood provides a framework for educational excellence that enables students to develop fully as persons and to master professional and leadership skills necessary for meeting human needs.

Location

Situated on a hill top, Marywood's scenic 180-acre campus is part of an attractive residential area of the city of Scranton in northeastern Pennsylvania. With a population of 78,000, Scranton is the fifth-largest city in Pennsylvania and is the county seat of Lackawanna County, whose population is approximately 213,000. Marywood has the advantage of being relatively close to major cities of the northeast. Distances by car to some of these cities are as follows:

1 hour from Binghamton
2 1/2 hours from New York City
2 1/2 hours from Philadelphia
4 hours from Washington, D.C.
5 1/2 hours from Boston

Several airlines serve the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, which is 20 minutes from campus. The Pocono Mountains, offering spectacular scenery and an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities including downhill skiing, are only a few minutes from campus.
